A taste for wikis
The concept of having a webpage that can be edited by everyone who comes across it seems a bit strange to me. I grew up in a time where someone was always the responsible party. But having viewed several wikis - like the ones for conferences or for community services it makes so much sense to allow all users to add, delete and edit information. And it is exciting to think how up-to-date wikis can be. My favorite piece of knowledge was that the word wiki is borrowed from the Hawaiian language. As a mother of a child named after a Hawaiian island that language is dear to my heart.

Yeah, we find our Reference Dept. wiki to be very useful--anyone can post changes, updates, meeting agenda ideas, customer service ideas, etc. It doesn't work for everything, but it definitely has its place. By the way, what is the name of your child named after a Hawaiian island? My husband and I took our honeymoon to the big island and Kauai.
